Kindergarten Scope & Sequence
What is a Scope and Sequence?
It is a summary of what is to be taught, and the sequence in which it will be taught.
Whether you are teaching Kindergarten for a home-school, public school, or private educational program, it is essential to follow an appropriate Scope and Sequence to encourage your child to learn and grow. Many common core curricula include jumbled scope and sequence formats with excessive details and inefficient timelines. After using Reading Street, American Reading Curriculum, & Montessori, I decided to create simple and streamlined Kindergarten Scope and Sequence maps. These curriculum maps span 34 weeks and serve as a guide for teaching essential Kindergarten skills, specifically in the following areas: story comprehension, reading, phonemic awareness, phonics, high frequency words (HFW), writing, and math, with a focus on developing fine motor skills. I offer weekly and monthly schedules and templates, with or without themes, that are easily adjustable based on your needs. Through various lessons and activities, you will watch your kindergartner learn, develop, and grow every week. With the right guide, teaching Kindergarten, and/or homeschooling your child, can be a fulfilling and rewarding journey!
